Synetic Theater

Early Discounts Set for Star Force, Dino Camps

Synetic Theater logoIt will be in a summer far, far away, but Synetic Theater in Arlington, Va., is offering discounts to students registering early the theater's Star Wars–themed summer camp classes as well as a dinosaur-themed spring break class.

Synetic's "Star Force" summer camp turns kids ages 7–14 into a band of intergalactic freedom fighters staging a rebellion to prevent a menacing overlord from hoarding all the resources in the universe, as a young hero will rise to harness the power of the star force, restoring peace, harmony, and justice for all! The sessions teach students physical theater, mime, pantomime, acrobatics, dance, and original songs. The training, rehearsal, and performance process is complemented with a visual art component that lets students explore the themes and images of Synetic's original play through the creation of paintings, figurines, props, and costumes.

The summer 2015 schedule leads off with the company's first-ever teens-only session for ages 12–18, June 22–July 1. The remaining four sessions (July 6–17, July 10–31, Aug. 3–14, and Aug. 17–28) are divided into "Thespians" ages 10–14 and "Young Artists" ages 7–9.

Synetic has also begun early registration for its 2015 Dino Camp, March 30–April 3, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (pre- and after-care available). This weeklong theatre camp for ages 6–13 combines drama with museum exhibitions and the Jurassic Age. Students study different prehistoric topics and create museum exhibitions that come to life for the audience in short vignettes, using theater to teach the campers and their audiences about the rise and fall of the dinosaur.

Early registration fees of $607 for the Star Force camp, $522 for the teen camp, and $307 fee for the Dino Camp run through this month.
