Popular local improv instructor Lucy Harris, whose training includes Improv with Chicago City Limits, will be back at The Laboratory Theater in Fort Myers, Florida, to lead two informative and fun workshops for teens on May 3.
The Improv workshop for ages 12–15 will be from noon to 3 p.m. The Improv workshop for ages 16–18 will run from 4–7 p.m. The free Improvisation workshop will accept 25 students for each of the workshops on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the workshop.
The workshops will include such popular improv games as Freeze, Forward/Reverse, Fairytale, and House Party. Participants benefit by growing their interpersonal communication and thinking skills, and having trained professionals direct them in how to work cooperatively and creatively. The community benefits by having young people involved in a safe, cooperative activity that teaches life skills, quick-thinking, self-confidence, reading and understanding nonverbal communication, and sharing.
Thanks to a generous grant from the Southwest Florida Community Foundation, the Lab Theater is able to offer free theater instruction to people aged 18 and under.
