Exploring Shakespeare through words, swords, and water balloons. That unique summer experience is available to children ages 8 to 18 at Nebraska Shakespeare's Camp Shakespeare 2013, June 27–July 5 with public performances on July 5, 6, and 7.
The Omaha, Neb., festival takes place at Elmwood Park/UNO, and the camp culminates with the kids performing during Shakespeare on the Green performances before the festival's main events, Twelfth Night and Titus Andronicus.
Students will work with professional artists and educators associated with Nebraska Shakespeare, get a tour of the set and costume shops, meet professional designers, and receive a souvenir T-shirt. The campers are divided into three levels: Jesters (ages 8–11), Apprentices (ages 12–14), and Players (ages 15–18).
Cost is $175 per student, but an early bird special of $150 is currently available. To register online, go to www.nebraskashakespeare.com/education-programs/camp-shakespeare/register-for-camp-shakespeare.
