The Millbrook Playhouse in Mill Hall, Pa., has established the Richard Guido Memorial Scholarship Fund and is offering transportation for the late actor's friends and fans who wish to attend his memorial service Sunday, Nov. 9, in New York City.
"Guido" (as he was known) passed away suddenly a few weeks ago. He will be remembered as a favorite performer at the Playhouse from 2003 through 2014," said an e-mail from the theater: "Guido will be sorely missed by all whose lives he touched, here and elsewhere."
The scholarship fund will be used to enable local children to attend the theater's summer camp. With donations made payable to Millbrook Playhouse, attach a note stating that the donation is earmarked for this fund. Send to Millbrook Playhouse, P.O. Box 161, Mill Hall PA 17751.
A Celebration of Guido's life will be held on Sunday, Nov. 9, at Dicapo Opera Theatre, 84 E. 76th St., just off of Lexington Ave. in New York City. The service starts at 1 p.m. with a reception directly following until 4:30 p.m.
Millbrook Playhouse will have a bus leaving from the Wal-Mart parking lot at 7 a.m. that day. If you are interested in going, make a reservation by calling the Playhouse at 570-748-8083 and send a check for $50 payable to Millbrook Playhouse at the above address (be sure to state that it is for the bus trip). The bus will also be available to passengers who wish to spend the day shopping in New York and not attend the service.
The bus will leave for the return trip to Mill Hall at 7 p.m. from Bryant Park.
